WEEKLY AGENDA
April 28 - May 22, 2008
Students will be working on writing a children’s book with a partner. These books are part of a program we call Schilling Shares. The books will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Grades will be taken on the rough draft and the completed book.
Monday, 4/28
Work on rough drafts of the Children’s Story book.
Tuesday, 4/29
Work on rough drafts.
If students finish the rough draft, they will begin the final book.
Wednesday, 4/30
Work on rough drafts or books.
Enriched: Foreign Language Class
Thursday, 5/1
Work on children’s books
Friday, 5/2
Begin poetry projects. Students will be given a work packet which includes instructions for the project “A Pocket Full of Poems”.
Week of May 5 - 9
Students will finish the children’s books.
Each day there will be a lesson on how to write a specific type of poem. Students will practice writing poems in class. Students will pick one type of each poem to include in their poetry project. All poems for the project must be typed and decorated. Instructions will be given in class.
Week of May 12 - 15
Students will continue working on their poems and the poetry project. All projects are due by May 14.
May 16 - 8th Grade Field Day - no classes.
***Enriched classes will diagram sentences in preparation for honors LA classes next year.
Week of May 18 - 22
Students will share poems and children’s stories.
Students will review what they have learned this year and prepare for next year.
May 23 - 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony
